Choosing an XR headset for enterprise training deployment

Application compatibility, fleet management, hygiene and operations: what to validate before standardising a headset.

Choosing an XR headset for enterprise training deployment

Compatibility is a matrix

Two Android or OpenXR headsets are not necessarily interchangeable. Runtime, controllers, hand tracking, system permissions, kiosk behaviour and installation can differ. A decision should name an exact model, tested application version and status: supported, pilot, under review or unsupported. The SimuVerse matrix is an operational register, not an unlimited guarantee; a system or application change may require a new test.

Examine real operations

Start with concurrent sessions, group size, frequency and sites. A headset suited to a monthly demonstration may not suit daily rotations. Consider battery, charging, comfort, cleaning, consumables, secure storage and ownership of preparation. A clear process to charge, clean, update and recover devices often matters more than a marginal specification difference.

Validate the application

Test launch, device authentication, entitled module access, recovery after interruption and result upload. Verify each interaction actually used. Record the system version, SimuVerse version, date, accepted deviations and workarounds. This keeps one successful pilot from becoming a blanket promise for all hardware variants.

Select a deployment mode

SELF_MANAGED suits organisations able to prepare headsets under the SimuVerse procedure. SIMUVERSE_MANAGED adds enrollment and deployment assistance within an agreed scope. SVR_BOX is turnkey. Enrollment depends on the model: manufacturer tooling, a documented ArborXR procedure, batch configuration or manual review. A generic QR code is never a universal method.

Plan fleet management

An operable fleet needs inventory, distinct backend identity, licence-scoped rights and installed-version visibility. If a headset is lost, revoke it before activating a replacement. Fleet management distributes the application and reports status; the SimuVerse backend remains the source of truth for companies, licences, modules and results.

Questions before purchase

  • Which model and system version will be standardised?\n- What status appears in the SimuVerse matrix?\n- Which enrollment method is approved?\n- Who owns updates, charging, hygiene and incidents?\n- How will lost or replaced devices be revoked?\n\nSee SVR Subscription, then request a headset demo.
